The closing quote from The Tree of Life, directed by Terrence Malick. The film follows the main protagonist (Sean Penn) as he reminisces over his childhood in attempt to comprehend and come to terms with the death of his younger brother. As a child, Penn's character is opinionated and hard-nosed; a juxtaposition to his gentle and soft-spoken brother. When Penn experiences an existential crisis in his adult years, he comes to realize that his brother's kind heart served as an example for how he was to live his own life: selfless, grateful, and compassionate.
At this pivotal moment, Malick represents Penn's epiphany through a surreal vision of what appears to be Heaven, closing the scene with a beautiful shot of sunflowers in a field.
